In those early years, significant efforts were devoted to utilising the power of transversely excited CO2 lasers for groundbreaking applications like molecular isotope separation. These efforts laid the foundation for what would eventually become TEACO Lasers (pty) Ltd.

However, the journey was not without its challenges. The original facility faced political pressures and was unfortunately demolished, prompting a new beginning. From the ashes emerged SDI Lasers, a spin-off company determined to carry on the legacy of laser innovation and application.

SDI Lasers quickly gained recognition as a prominent global supplier in the TEA CO2 laser field, focusing on high-energy physics applications for both research and industrial purposes. Their commitment to continual improvement and cutting-edge development earned a reputation as the preferred laser supplier for demanding Laser UT non-destructive testing systems. This resulted in PAR Systems, Inc. proceeding to acquire SDI Lasers (Pty) Ltd back in 2011.
